How does Glint work?

Do I need a Google account?

Yes, you need a Google account to host an event since photos are stored in your Google Drive. Your guests don't need a Google account or any account at all. They just scan and upload.

How long does setup take?

About two minutes. Sign up, connect your Google Drive, name your event, and you're live. You can customise your QR code and guest page later.

Is it really free?

Yes, completely free while we launch. Every event gets unlimited uploads, the custom QR designer, and 12 months of access. No credit card required. Premium plans will return later, but events you create now keep these terms.

Do guests need to download an app?

No. Glint is entirely web-based. Guests open the link in any modern browser: Safari, Chrome, Firefox, whatever they already have on their phone.

What file types can guests upload?

JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC (iPhone photos), MP4, and MOV. Glint handles HEIC conversion automatically for previews while preserving the original quality file in your Drive.

Is there a file size limit?

100 MB per file. That's large enough for high-resolution photos and short video clips. Files over 5 MB use resumable uploads so nothing gets lost on spotty reception.

Does it work on all phones?

Yes. iPhone, Android, tablets - any device with a modern browser. The guest page is fully responsive and optimised for mobile.

How does the Google Drive connection work?

Glint uses secure OAuth2 authentication with Google. We request drive.file scope only, which means we can only create and access files that Glint itself creates. We never see or touch your other Drive files.

Can Glint access my other files?

No. The drive.file scope strictly limits us to files created by Glint. We cannot browse, read, modify, or delete any of your existing Drive content.

What happens if I disconnect Google Drive?

New uploads will be paused until you reconnect. Any files already uploaded to your Drive stay exactly where they are. They're your files in your storage.

How much Google Drive storage do I need?

It depends on how many guests you have. Roughly, 200 high-quality photos take up about 1-2 GB. Google gives every account 15 GB for free, so most events fit comfortably.

Can I create multiple events?

Yes. Create as many events as you like during the launch period. Each gets its own page, QR code, and Drive folder.

What happens when my access window expires?

The guest page stops accepting new uploads after 12 months. All files already in your Google Drive remain there permanently. They're yours.

Is my data secure?

Photos go directly to your Google Drive. We never store them on our servers. Event metadata is stored in Supabase with encryption at rest. All connections use HTTPS.

Who can see my photos?

Only you. Files are uploaded directly to your personal Google Drive. We don't have access to view, share, or use your photos in any way.

Do you support Arabic?

Yes. The guest upload page has full Arabic localisation with right-to-left layout support. Guests choose their language when they land on the page.

Can I delete my account and data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can delete your account from your dashboard settings at any time. This removes all event metadata and your account data from our systems. Files already in your Google Drive remain yours.
