Questions

Everything you might be wondering.

Getting Started

How does Glint work?

You create an event in your dashboard, connect your Google Drive, and share the link or QR code with your guests. Guests scan the code, pick their photos, and upload. Every file goes straight to a folder in your Drive. No middleman, no waiting.

Do I need a Google account?

Yes, you need a Google account to host an event since photos are stored in your Google Drive. Your guests don't need a Google account or any account at all. They just scan and upload.

How long does setup take?

About two minutes. Sign up, connect your Google Drive, name your event, and you're live. You can customize your QR code and guest page later.

Is it really free?

Yes. Every account gets one free event with up to 50 uploads and 30 days of access. No credit card required. If you want unlimited uploads or more events, those start at $19.

For Guests

Do guests need to download an app?

No. Glint is entirely web-based. Guests open the link in any modern browser: Safari, Chrome, Firefox, whatever they already have on their phone.

Do guests need to create an account?

No. There's no sign-up, no login, no friction. Guests scan the QR code or tap the link and start uploading immediately.

What file types can guests upload?

JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC (iPhone photos), MP4, and MOV. Glint handles HEIC conversion automatically for previews while preserving the original quality file in your Drive.

Is there a file size limit?

500 MB per file by default, and a host can raise their own event to 1.5 GB in Settings. That is large enough for high-resolution photos and full-length videos. Files over 4 MB use resumable uploads so nothing gets lost on spotty reception.

Does it work on all phones?

Yes. iPhone, Android, tablets - any device with a modern browser. The guest page is fully responsive and optimized for mobile.

Google Drive

How does the Google Drive connection work?

Glint uses secure OAuth2 authentication with Google. We request drive.file scope only, which means we can only create and access files that Glint itself creates. We never see or touch your other Drive files.

Can Glint access my other files?

No. The drive.file scope strictly limits us to files created by Glint. We cannot browse, read, modify, or delete any of your existing Drive content.

What happens if I disconnect Google Drive?

New uploads will be paused until you reconnect. Any files already uploaded to your Drive stay exactly where they are. They're your files in your storage.

How much Google Drive storage do I need?

The photos live in your own Google Drive, so they use your Google storage, not ours. Every Google account gets 15 GB free, shared across Drive, Gmail, and Photos, and you can add more through Google One any time. Because Glint keeps full-resolution originals, a large event with lots of 4K video can add up, so it is worth a glance at your storage before the day.

Pricing & Events

What's the difference between plans?

Free gives you 1 event with 50 uploads and 30 days of access. An Event Pass ($19) gives you 1 event with unlimited uploads, 12 months of access, custom QR codes, no Glint branding, a shared gallery guests can browse, and the live slideshow you can put on a screen at the event. The Event Bundle ($45) gives you 3 Event Passes at a discount.

Can I create multiple events?

Yes. Every account starts with 1 free event. After that, you can buy Event Passes ($19 each) or an Event Bundle (3 for $45) from your dashboard.

Can I buy more Event Passes later?

Absolutely. You can purchase additional passes anytime from your dashboard. They don't expire until you use them.

What happens when my access window expires?

The guest page stops accepting new uploads. All files already in your Google Drive remain there permanently. They're yours. Your dashboard data stays accessible too.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Full refund any time before your event, and up to 7 days after it. Email us at hello@glint.pics with your account email and we'll process it back to your original payment method.

At Your Event

Can I show guest photos on a screen at my event?

Yes. The live slideshow puts photos on a TV or projector as guests upload them. A new photo reaches the screen in about twenty seconds while photos are flowing, and up to a minute or so once things have gone quiet. It runs in a browser, so a smart TV or a laptop on an HDMI cable is all you need. There is nothing to install, and it comes with the Event Pass.

How long does each photo stay on screen?

Eight seconds by default, and you choose between three one-tap settings: five, eight or twelve seconds. Videos and guest messages hold slightly longer than photos automatically, so you set one number rather than three.

How do guests know to upload during the event?

Your QR code sits in the corner over the photos unless you switch it off, beside a running count of how many guests and photos have come in, and every so often the slideshow gives the code a full screen of its own with your event name and the link written out beneath it. A code needs to be roughly a tenth of its scanning distance across to scan reliably, so a corner code only works from about eighty centimetres away. The full-screen version works from about two metres on a television, which reaches the nearest tables.

Can I take a photo off the screen?

Yes, and it costs nothing. Hiding a photo from your dashboard takes it off the slideshow within about twenty seconds, or up to a minute or so if the screen has been quiet. It leaves the shared gallery immediately for anyone who opens or reloads that page, though a guest already looking at the gallery keeps seeing it until they refresh. The file stays in your Google Drive; hiding changes what guests see, not what you keep.

Is the slideshow the same thing as the shared gallery?

No, they are separate and each has its own link. The gallery is a page guests can open on their phones and browse at any time. The slideshow is a screen at the event. You can run either without the other, and closing one does not close the other.

Is a photo wall the same as a live slideshow?

Yes, they are two names for one thing: guests' photos appearing on a screen at your event as they upload them. Some apps call it a photo wall, others call it a live slideshow. Glint calls it the live slideshow, and it is the same feature either way.

Privacy & Security

Is my data secure?

Photos go directly to your Google Drive. We never store them on our servers. Event metadata is stored in Supabase with encryption at rest. All connections use HTTPS.

Who can see my photos?

Nobody, until you decide otherwise. Files go straight to your own Google Drive and Glint never stores them. Sharing is something you turn on: you can open a shared gallery on its own link so guests can browse, and you can start a live slideshow on a screen at your event. Both are off until you start them, both have their own link, and you can close either one whenever you like.

Can I delete my account and data?

Yes. You can delete your account from your dashboard settings at any time. This removes all event metadata and your account data from our systems. Files already in your Google Drive remain yours.
